Why visit Ljubljana? There is a lot to see in Slovenia capital, from castle above Ljubljana and Tivoli Park to many churches, museums, galleries, fountains and restaurants near river Ljubljanica. There is not a thing you could not do in this city. City Park is a shopping center with many different stores, and if you don’t want to wait your parents or partner while they are shopping you can go across the street in Kolosej – cinema to see some new movies or go bowling. Nearby is also Atlantis – pool complex with waterslides and everything.
If a sportsman, you can go hiking on Smartna Gora, rent a bike and ride all the way to another part of Slovenia capital or watch some sports game in Tivoli sport hall. Because Ljubljana is in the center of our country, every part of Slovenia is reachable within one driving hour or so and you can find your accommodation everywhere. Airport Joze Pucnik Ljubljana is also few kilometers away if you maybe want to visit some other European capital.
If you look at map of Slovenia what does it remind you of? Do not be shy; you can say it at loud. It looks like a chicken, right? In joke we can say we live in chickens’ head or first leg or… There is more than one definition of Slovenian provinces, and we will reveal you one of them.
Slovenia is divided in seven provinces; Gorenjska (1), Dolenjska (2), Notranjska (3), Stajerska (4), Primorska (5), Prekmurje (6), and Koroska (7). In every single part of map of Slovenia you can find accommodation and places worth visiting, from Kranj in Gorenjska, Novo mesto in Dolenjska, Maribor in Stajerska, Koper in Primorska, Murska Sobota in Prekmurje, to Ravne na Koroskem in Koroska and of course capitol of Slovenia Ljubljana somewhere in the middle.
Portoroz or in Italian Portorose is probably the prettiest seaside town in Slovenia. It is the biggest Slovenian tourist destination with many hotels, accommodation, marina and small international airport. Many Slovenians dream of going to Portoroz only for a coffee or to spend few hours by the Adriatic sea.
If in Portoroz, you can not go by without visiting our Secovlje pans where one of the most known Slovenian movie Poletje v skoljki (Summer in the shell) was taken. The night life in Portoroz is very rich – there are many bars, discos and one of the biggest Slovenian casinos – Grand Casino Portoroz. Portoroz is only 20 kilometers away from Koper, the ‘capital’ of region Primorska, and only 120 kilometers away from Slovenian capital Ljubljana. So when in Slovenia, you must visit Portoroz where you will easily find a nice accommodation and enjoy in Portoroz high life.
